Slip and Slide
When Guinea was dealing with his bladder stone we had to put him on a low-calcium diet, in order to avoid exacerbating the stone. This meant some of his favorite foods were off the menu. To make sure he was getting balanced nutrition, and eating enough in general, we replaced his pellets with a special hay slurry designed to keep pigs healthy. Also because pellets themselves tend to be high in calcium. The food came in powder, which was a mix of vitamins, minerals, and finely ground hay. His favorite was the mint flavor, maybe because most herbs are high in calcium so this was the only way he could get that taste.
One day I fed him a fresh bowl of formula, and he was so excited to eat it, he tried to run through the narrow gap between the tunnel and the side of the cage. He was able to get his head through but couldn't squeeze his body! He finally realized what was happening, so he quickly ran around the tunnel. But he was running so fast, he stopped too late, stepped in his food bowl, and slid right across it! It was funny, because then he started eating, but there was a big foot-shaped canyon right down the middle.
