Shampoo Time
It's a good thing we kept Potato and Coco Bean quarantined from Fuzzy when we first got them, because we found out Bean had a case of ringworm from the pet store. Luckily it wasn't very advanced, so it didn't seem to bother him, but it did spread a bit and cause him to lose hair. And of course, since Potato was with him from day one, he got it too. In order to get rid of the infection permanently, we had to treat them with antifungal cream twice a day, and shampoo them in antifungal dandruff shampoo once a week, while also thoroughly washing the cage and everything in it. It was quite a major production. After about six weeks it was finally entirely gone.
In all the years we owned Guinea and Fuzzy, we never had to give them a bath even once. So shampooing those babies was a new experience for us. Potato looked like a city rat after getting all wet. But luckily he has light fur that dries really quickly. And when we were done hair drying him, he was even fluffier and softer!
